~/mentorship

The product design landscape has changed rapidly. The barrier to making things that appear polished got lower, but the details that separate great work from the forgettable can be hard to articulate.

I work primarily with designers searching for a more confident voice, and PMs or engineers taking on more design responsibility. The answer is rarely found in better tools, more tutorials, or someone telling you what to fix. The goal isn’t just an instinct for what looks right, but a deeper understanding of why.

I offer 1:1 sessions centered on personal growth. I’m not here to hand you a verdict or tell you what direction to take. Instead, I ask questions that help you figure out what you’re thinking, what you actually want to achieve, and what’s been getting in your way.

Whether you’re early in your career or a few years in and feeling like your work should be further along than it is, I’d love to talk.

Early in my career, I was trying to break into my first in-house product design role and Nathaniel gave helpful advice and a listening ear. He asked the kind of questions that helped me figure out what I actually wanted. I never felt judged or told what to do. I appreciated the clarity and practicality he brought to our conversations, and I know they helped me land the job.

I regularly attended Nathaniel’s office hours while working on a complex enterprise platform. He helped me navigate ambiguous design problems by structuring my thinking and asking the right questions, rather than simply giving answers. He later became my manager, and his guidance helped me build clarity and confidence in my decisions. Many of my current problem-solving approaches and habits valued by colleagues can be traced back to his mentorship.
